Sam, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
FYZICAL Naperville
My name is Sam, and I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Midwestern University. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Iowa with a minor in English and a minor in Spanish. I have intermediate-advanced proficiency in Spanish. I am passionate about treating chronic pain in both orthopedic and neurological patients, hypermobility disorders, and patients with multiple issues, and I have experience with treating industrial workers, post-surgical patients, post-stroke patients, acute care, and acute outpatient injuries including working in the emergency department. I have hypermobile Ehlers’s Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) as well as Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and have been in physical therapy as a patient for many years, which is how I was introduced to the profession. I understand the difficulties of living with chronic pain, limited energy, and disability.
Outside of work, I am very active and enjoy a multitude of sports. I spend a lot of time weightlifting, playing soccer for many years, and longboarding in my free time. I also enjoy art, particularly creating graphite and charcoal portraits. When I’m not doing any of that, you can find me talking to my long-distance partner on the phone or playing video games with my cat, Pancake, on my lap.
Fun Facts:
- I am a nationally ranked powerlifter
- I originally went to college for creative writing before changing my degree to physiology
- I spent three years making medical cadaver dissections for students to study from
